Your time, choice and selection should be important to you with your insured investment requiring the attention it deserves.
Store your jewellery in a secure clean dry place. Don't jumble pieces together as they can scratch each other and cause chipping.
Diamonds - Diamonds may be the hardest substance known to man, but they can still be damaged or dulled. Don't wear your diamonds when doing rough work and although they are durable, a hard blow can chip a diamond.
Don't let your diamond come into contact with bleach and other chemicals as they can discolour the mounting. To clean, prepare a small bowl of warm suds with mild liquid detergent and rinse under warm running water.
Gold - Remove all gold jewellery before showering as soap can cause a film to form on the piece, making it appear dull
Be careful of chlorine as it can permanently damage or discolour your gold jewellery. To remove tarnish from your jewellery, use jewellery cleaner.
Silver - When cleaning your sterling silver, avoid abrasive polishes as they can scratch the surface. For minor cleaning, use a polishing cloth for soft silver.
Exposure to air brings oxidation, which results in tarnishing. In order to minimise tarnishing, you should wrap your silver jewellery in tissue paper and store in an airtight container.
There are several good commercial silver dips and polishes available or recommended from most reputable jewellers.
